Ok, I have added a small photo gallery of Jets for you, click  here, or the link on the right. Yes, I ham it up a little when I see a camera.

I am still here

September 19, 2010

Yes, I am still alive, and thank you to all who have written asking after me. This year has been very busy and filled with many happenings, and I am very sorry my site has been so quiet. I have had my hand slapped for not keeping everyone updated, so I will be much more conscientious in the future.

Through the summer I earned my Jet Car license and am now driving a jet car for Brad and Heather Janishewski, Fire 4 Hire Jet Cars, out of Edmonton Alberta. This has been an amazing experience and the Janishewskis, as well as the rest of the team, are absolutely top notch people.

Driving a jet car is unlike anything I have ever driven before. Everything is different from the fire-up procedure to the shut-down, and everything in between. Being purely thrust driven vehicles they do not move around on the tires, or break the tires loose on the run, so it is a very smooth experience. Trying to hold back 6000 pounds of thrust on the start line takes everything I have on the brake pedal, I am sure I am going to blow the brake lines right off. The launch is smooth and gentle compared to an alcohol car. By about half track though these things start to haul. The top end acceleration is a fantastic experience like nothing else.

Fire 4 Hire jet cars is planning a website to be launched very soon, I will let you know as soon as it is up and running. We are looking at ten or twelve races next season, once the schedule is planned that will also be posted.

As is always the case for any driver, I am continuing my hunt for sponsors. I am looking forward to continuing to work with Jim Hilstad from Boomers Hot Rods, Tom and Debbie, from CV Transport, and Marcel from SD performance next season.  I have been talking to the owner of an Alcohol Funny car in the US and if I can make the proposed budget we will have a schedule for next season. I have lots of work to do to raise the required funding, but it is an achievable amount. The benefit for my sponsors will be huge so now is the time to get on board for this program. If any of you know of someone thinking about getting involved in drag racing, or who might like to enjoy the many benefits of my sponsorship programs, please pass on my info to them, or their info to me.

I also look forward to working with the Fire 4 Hire sponsors, Paradise RV, and Drayton Valley Ford. If you are looking for an RV of any sort, be it a motor home or even a race car trailer, Paradise RV will take great care of you. Let them know you heard about them from me, they are huge drag racing fans. If you are not in Alberta, delivery can be arranged to your area.

At my last race event two weeks ago, Drayton Valley Ford gave me a wonderful 2010 Ford Flex to use. That is an amazing vehicle. Everything from great fuel economy, especially for a vehicle with so much room, to an incredibly quiet ride, that Flex is an outstanding vehicle. If you are considering a new or used vehicle and you are in the Edmonton area Drayton Valley Ford is the place to go.
